3 steps to a better laundry room

SIMPLE CHANGES MAKE IT QUIETER AND EASIER TO MAINTAIN.--R.B.

1 USE RIGID VENT Wherever possible, use a rigid aluminum dryer vent instead of a flexible aluminum vent because it won't restrict airflow as much, and it's less likely to clog with lint.

2 RAISE THE DRYER Raise the dryer on a sturdy plywood platform to make it easier to load and unload.

3 SUPPORT THE WASHER AND DRYER Fasten a sheet of 3/4-in.-thick plywood to the floor below the washer and dryer using 1 5/8-in. deck or woodworking screws. Stiffening the floor and adding a layer of sound-deadening lumber will reduce the vibration and noise caused by the appliances. By putting the washer and dryer on a firmer footing, you may even contribute to their durability over the long haul.
