Dealing with dirty laundry is hardly a fun task. But with all the spent water and harmful detergent waste, it is even tougher on the environment. This is why The Laundry Alternative Inc. has come up with the Wonder Wash and Spin Dryer--a cleaner and less wasteful solution to traditional laundromats.
The company insists that both products will cut down water and electricity usage, saving customers $150-250 per year. This is certainly true for the washer, which appears to be completely grid-independent and instead relies on a "patented pressure system". Translation: the machine is completely manual and works by tumbling the contents when you spin the hand crank. Meanwhile, the Mini Countertop Spin Dryer is electric, but uses only 82W.
The downside is that the Wonder Wash only has room for a 5 lb load, while the Mini Countertop Spin Dryer is truly 'mini' and fits only 2.2 lb. So even if you are a family of one and change your clothes once a week, this "laundry alternative" simply won't cut it. Instead you may want to check out a standard size Sanyo Aqualoop washer, which actually recycles water for future laundry jobs.
